On Friday, October 16, Democracy co-hosted an event with the Aspen Institute on what it means to be culturally literate in the twenty-first century, and what every American should know.

The event featured E.D. Hirsch Jr., the author of Cultural Literacy, Eric Liu, who wrote “How to Be American” in Issue #38, and Alyssa Rosenberg, the lead culture blogger at The Washington Post. It was moderated by Democracy editor Michael Tomasky.
