On April 6, Democracy and Third Way hosted a Happy Hour at Johnny’s Half Shell to promote the idea of a taxpayer receipt, as well as Third Way’s new online tool, the Tax Receipt Calculator.

In our Winter 2011 Issue [“Seeing Where The Money Went,” Issue #19], Ethan Porter, contributing editor at Democracy, and David Kendall, senior fellow at Third Way, wrote:

A well-structured, well-designed receipt would clarify to taxpayers where their money is going, disabuse citizens of many popular misconceptions about taxing and spending, and help restore a modicum of trust between citizens and their government.

Their idea has been featured in The Washington Post, The New York Times, ABC News, and other outlets.
