On June 16, Democracy editor Michael Tomasky will moderate a discussion at the American Constitution Society’s annual convention in Washington, D.C. on the effect of the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United to ease decades-old corporate spending limits in campaigns. The panel will discuss the effect of SuperPACs on this year’s presidential campaign, the future of campaign finance reform, and the impact of the Supreme Court decision on our democracy.
The panel will feature Larry Gold of the AFL-CIO and Trister Ross Schadler & Gold; Anthony Johnstone of the University of Montana Law; former Federal Elections Commission chair Brad Smith; Zephyr Teachout of Fordham Law; Fred Wertheimer of Democracy 21; and Monica Youn of New York University Law School and the Brennan Center.
