In our Fall 2007 issue, Peter Bergen proposed the creation of a social networking database, similar to Facebook or MySpace, that could be used to track and disrupt the complex web of Middle Eastern terrorism. Subsequent to publication, Bergen’s proposal has driven discussion about the issue. The January/February 2008 Issue of Utne flagged Bergen’s article as a powerful “emerging idea.”
