Reporter James Barnes plugs Democracy.

By The Editors

In the June 17 issue of National Journal, James Barnes writes:

Democrats will launch a quarterly magazine on June 20 called Democracy: A Journal of Ideas. The new periodical is modeled after The Public Interest and Commentary journals, which gave neoconservative intellectual heft to the Reagan revolution in the 1980s. It will be edited by two of the party’s brightest idea merchants, Kenneth Baer, former senior speechwriter for Al Gore in 2000, and Andrei Cherny, former director of speechwriting for John Kerry in 2004, who are also longtime friends. Backing the venture are Democratic moneymen including Steve Rattner, an investment banker; former DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe; and Andy Stern, president of the Service Employees International Union.
