In the most recent issue of Democracy, “Innovation Nation,” an article by Rob Atkinson, makes the case for a new economic doctrine: “Innovation Economics.” Atkinson argues that neither Keynesianism or neoclassical economics can get our economy moving again.
On December 17th, please join the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, of which Mr. Atkinson is president, for an event focused on this emerging field. Mr. Atkinson will discuss his Democracy article, which reviews two leading books on the topic: Michael Heller’s The Gridlock Economy: How Too Much Ownership Wrecks Markets, Stops Innovation, and Costs Lives and Eric Beinhocker’s The Origin of Wealth: Evolution, Complexity, and the Radical Remaking of Economics. Mr. Atkinson will be joined by two leading technology industry representatives, Rick Whitt of Google and Marc Berejka of Microsoft. In addition, Robert Axtell, External Professor, Santa fe Institute, will provide comments.
