The question that’s been bedeviling the broad left for over a decade now is how, exactly, to regain its reputation as a movement by and for working people. No, not everything can be reduced down to policy decisions. But we’re a policy journal, so that’s where we’re going to start. We asked 11 experts from across the range of centrists to democratic socialists what one idea, even a small one, they would implement to try to start winning back working people. We think these 11 proposals, taken cumulatively, form a real backbone for a serious, cross-coalitional agenda. We know you’ll learn something reading them.
One note: This is part of a new package we’re calling “The Next Agenda,” a series of proposals that we hope a future administration can lean on to make changes big and small. You can expect future packages on taxes, health care—all with proposals that we hope are new to both you and policymakers. Be on the lookout.
